September 1 – In honor of National Recovery Month, Timberline Knolls offered a Webinar featuring Dr. Kim Dennis, Medical Director at Timberline Knolls, to TK Alumnae and the recovery community. The theme of the presentation was recovery is possible and highlighted the importance of treating co-occurring disorders and staying connected with others. September 8 – Timberline Knolls hosted a special reception at the Lemont Center for the Arts for local behavioral healthcare professionals, City of Lemont officials, Lemont Arts Commission representatives and others to celebrate its art exhibit, “Honesty.” The exhibit showcases work from TK residents and staff. This special program will examine body ideals and America’s ongoing obsession with dieting in order to achieve an idealized, model-sized look. Jena Morrow, behavioral health specialist at TK, and author of Hollow: An Unpolished Tale, will speak about her experience with and recovery from an eating disorder. A panel discussion will follow, including Dr. Dennis from TK, and a candlelight vigil will be held in conjunction with the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD).
